Riberace!

So the Liberace Museum in Las Vegas is closing on October 17th, and since i won't be able to go, i forced Rob to go on my behalf. He complied, as indicated by the image above. More pictures to follow!

I'm SAD that the Liberace Museum is closing it's doors... it seems like one of those places that SHOULD exist, whether you enjoy Mr. Showmanship or not. And COME ON, this is like GAY GROUND ZERO (along with Stonewall). We're talking about the QUEEN OF ALL QUEENS! It just seems wrong.

there IS a silver, gem bedazzled lining, though- They're taking the show on the road! I've been telling myself that this might be better in a way, because this way ALL the gays of the US will have a fighting chance to see all this shit, rather than just the tacky ones who actually go to vegas (*coughROBcough*).

  2. the official story is that a condensed version of the museum's contents will go on an exhibit tour, and what isn't used on the tour will go 'into storage' (that may very well mean that the LIBERACE BLACK MARKET is on like donkey kong, so keep your ear to the ground). They are supposedly hoping to reopen at some point at a new location, but i'm not sure how likely that is realistically. you can go to the site http://www.liberace.org/. i did notice that they are hiring for a bunch of positions regarding the tour, so that's a good sign. i guess they do musical scholarship stuff, and that they've sent about three thousand kids to college since the late seventies. I guess that there's a Steven Soderbergh biopic about him that's supposed to start filming this summer, and if they can time it right, it might come back from the dead as a proper museum.

wow, i feel like I KNOW TOO MUCH about liberace now.
